UPDATE: It seems like this promo graphic refers to the Cherry Mobile Hyper as a follow-up post implies. We’ll keep you posted on the A919i Duo competitor in the coming weeks as I have a hunch that they’ll be sending media invites before the end of April to take a crack at the ‘Quad-core and HD Display’ market.

Cherry Mobile just posted a photo on their official Facebook fan page which hints the release of a 2nd generation Dragon Phone. The reign of the original Dragon Phone was short due to the Titan’s release but can it be the supreme king this time?

We’re guessing that the timing of the image posted declares another launch as its biggest rival, MyPhone, is already prepping their new set of android devices. MyPhone has a wildcard up on their sleeve with the MyPhone A919i Duo which became viral just minutes after we published the article confirming its specs and price and as of this writing it has gathered thousands of shares already. Before the Titan was released, we already got a preview of the A919 Duo and we’re amaze by its awesome features but Cherry Mobile beat them to the market by releasing a similarly specced smartphone earlier. But as soon as the MyPhone A919 Duo was released, its sales picked up quickly, making up for the lost time.

Based on their naming strategy, as seen on the Cherry Mobile Flame 2.0, CM is very much interested in producing a follow-up to their existing devices as it create a better recognition on people as that often leads to a conclusion of an increased overall performance. Also, better traction can easily be pulled as there are already former users who were once a fan of the original android phone.

The Cherry Mobile W900 was the first Dragon phone and it name was taken from its Qualcomm Snapdragon S2 processor. Back then, local android phones just use Mediatek processor and the W900 was the first of its kind. Whether it will be called as the Dragon Phone 2 or Dragon Phone HD, we don’t have an idea yet but those two were the candidates, I suppose.

Cherry Mobile Dragon Phone 2 Specs? Let’s guess it!

Cherry Mobile didn’t reveal any details regarding the specs but let me tell you our guess. It will be powered by a 1.2GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 quad-core processor (not the pro), 1GB RAM, and the powerful GPU. It will also flaunt a 5.0-inch HD (1280×720) display, 8-megapixel autofocus main camera with LED flash, 2-megapixel front camera, and a 2500mAh battery. As always, what it matters most is the price and I think Cherry Mobile will stick to their strategy of making the cheapest yet powerful smartphones. Our guess is that it will be  at around Php8,490-Php8,990.

Please note that the specs listed above are not official and our guess is as good as your at this stage. In fact, we can’t really even tell if it’s a new device that would really exist.

What do you guys think? Any dream phone specs that you would like to suggest? Let us know by posting it in the comments!

  1. Kung same chipset din nmn ang ilalagay (mediatek 6589) expect na almost same lang sa a919i ang magiging specs. price lng tlga ang mababa pag dating sa CM

  2. I hope they will CM will create that quadcore, same 12mpx rear 2mpx front cam, dragon trail glass (HD) uhhh. and 2500mah batt.. dont care if it will be 9990 or less. they should complete the techie flavor… to outperform sales… just my wit though…

      1. :) FYI lang po; if it will be a snapdragon then the gpu would be an adreno.

“Adreno, the company’s proprietary GPU technology, integrated into Snapdragon chipsets (and certain other Qualcomm chipsets) is Qualcomm’s own design, using assets the company acquired from AMD”

        1. Dami mo alam ah..bigyan nyo to ng jacket at will phone! plus 5 thousand!

  3. I’m a Cherry Mobile Omega HD user and I must say that I’m happy with my purchase. But meron na rin ilalabas ang MyPhone. Kung hindi rin magbabago ang after sales strategies ng CM. Khit mas mura sila lilipat na ako.

  4. This is why I love Cherry Mobile so much. The only problem to these kinds of things are the aftersales support. It would have been perfect if these phones were also backed by professional aftersales support like Starmobile does.

    1. we’ve experience the aftersales service of starmobile too, wala png 30 mins naayos na ung problem sa keyboard ng barphone nila. reliable talaga, also myphone too, if you visit their service center sa sm north cyberzone, you can compare it sa dami ng people sa CM service center na katapat nila sa 3rd floor.

      1. di hamak din na mas madami sales ni Cherry Mobile kasi compared to the 2 combined..
