Superion Explorer

In case you missed it, Cherry Mobile just announced a trio of budget Android tablets for less than Php5k. As usual, they are from the Fusion family that was pioneered by the Bolt.

You can check our features on the Fusion Breeze and Fusion Storm here if you’re interested, but if a 3G tablet is more to your liking, look no further than the Cherry Mobile Superion Explorer.

The Superion Explorer is a 7 inch Android Jelly Bean tablet that features a 1.2GHz dual core MSM8225 processor by Qualcomm. Incidentally, it’s the same processor as the Cherry Mobile Flare. No news yet on what the actual resolution of the screen is, but it’s more than likely to be a WVGA TFT panel. Of course, Cherry Mobile could surprise us despite the price point, but I doubt it since the Adreno 203 GPU can’t possibly handle anything more than WVGA/FWVGA resolution.

Of course, the killer feature of the Cherry Mobile Superion Explorer isn’t the screen, but that it has a complete set of wireless connectivity features. It supports 3G mobile data speeds, WiFi b/g/n, Bluetooth, and even GPS. Unfortunately, the battery is only rated at 3,000mAh, so you might want to conserve how much you use 3G data or just buy a power bank.

Still, at a price of Php4,499, it’s a pretty hard deal to beat. It’s so affordable, I could easily consider getting this as an alternative GPS navigation system for the car. That way, I could get a GPS device and an entertainment device with just a single tablet! And students will probably love the Cherry Mobile Superion Explorer too!
