We’re more than halfway through the year and almost all of our local brands now have an octa-core smartphone offering. DTC is one of the later ones to join the octa-core game, although their strategy has typically been to wait until mobile phone trends mature before entering the market with something they can compete with. That’s exactly what they did with the DTC GT21 Neptune.

DTC Neptune Side

Let’s start off with the 5 inch screen, which only has HD resolution. Compared to many of the already popular octa-core offerings from its competitors that have Full HD screens, the DTC Neptune’s screen isn’t as sharp. However to be honest, most people will barely see the difference anyway.

DTC Neptune Back

More importantly, the DTC GT21 Neptune is driven by a 1.7GHz MediaTek MT6592 octa-core processor paired with a Mali 450 MP4 GPU. It comes with 2GB RAM, 16GB of storage and a micro SD slot that supports up to 32GB cards. It will also come equipped with a 13mp rear-facing autofocus camera and 2mp front camera.

You get a full suite of connectivity options, sans LTE. There’s 3.75G/HSPA+ support, WiFi b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.0 and GPS while running on Android 4.2 Jelly Bean. The device is powered by a 2,000mAh battery, which could have been better. Still, with a price tag that’s going to be surprisingly affordable at Php10,999, I’m not going to complain that much.

  1. Too late in the game, there are a lot of equally spec’d phones with competitive price like the THL W200s @9k with 1gb ram but 32gb internal memory.

  2. i don’t need an octacore phone, so asus zenfone 5 is enough for me, costs less than 7k.

  3. People who buys at stores or malls dont know xiaomi or lazada. Only us who are active surfing the net for smartphones knows that. They have life other than buying latest gadgets.

  4. 10,999? wait what how much is the Mi3 again? it’s 10,599! a whole lot cheaper a whole lot powerful!

    1. yeah but we should actually value their efforts even if they are late hehe
