For the first few months after the HTC One came out, it was considered by many in the tech industry to be the best Android smartphone in the market. However if you’re interested in many of the HTC One’s features but on a smartphone with a larger screen, longer battery life or cheaper price point, you’ll be happy to know that HTC has at least two new options in the market for you to consider: the HTC Butterfly S and HTC Desire 600.

The HTC Butterfly S is for those who are looking for uncompromising performance with improved battery life. The Butterfly S sports the same 5″ Full HD Super LCD 3 display with Gorilla Glass 2 that allowed the original Butterfly to gain fame in the international community. However, it sports a faster 1.9GHz quad core Snapdragon 600 processor couple with 2GB RAM for blazing fast performance and smoother multitasking. It also comes equipped with a massive 3,200mAh battery, which is something you don’t usually see on anything with a screen that’s less than 5.5″.

The HTC Butterfly S also benefits from a number of features that have been carried over from the HTC One. First, it comes with the same UltraPixel Camera that allows 300% more light into the sensor than conventional smartphone cameras. Thanks to a few software tricks, it’s also capable of taking Zoes and Video Highlights. Rounding out the inherited features from the HTC One are HTC BoomSound and Blinkfeed.

In case you’re looking for something more modest and pocketable though, the HTC Desire 600 might be more your style. It sports a more conventional 4.5″ qHD IPS Super LCD 2 with Dragontrail Glass protection. The quad core Snapdragon 200 processor, while not top of the line, is still pretty snappy and the 1GB RAM that goes with it should be enough to provide decent multitasking capabilities.

Interestingly enough, it too has lifted some features from the HTC One. While the HTC Desire 600 only has a conventional 8mp BSI camera, it too is capable of creating Video Highlights. No Zoes though, but at least you can also access the Blinkfeed feature. It also comes equipped with HTC BoomSound, for an immersive experience when listening to audio from the loudspeakers.

Both the HTC Butterfly S and the HTC Desire 600 are available in the market. If you’re interested in picking one up, the HTC Butterfly S retails for Php37,590 while the Desire 600 sells for a more modest Php18,990.

  1. I’ve had the Butterfly S for two weeks now and it’s by far the best phone I’ve ever used. Battery life is amazing – I’m getting ~4x the time I did on my old Galaxy Nexus. Screen, Camera and Performance is amazing as well. I can’t even imagine getting a Snapdragon 800 device as I have zero lag on the Snapdragon 600 and all the games I’ve tried works perfectly smooth.
