Samsung are certainly gaining much foothold in the Androidsphere. While most people are undoubtedly waiting for any announcement regarding their upcoming flagship smartphones for this year, it’s undeniable that their latest announcements are generating a buzz nonetheless.

Today, they have announced their new tablet lineup, named the GalaxyPRO. From what I understand, it seems that the products under this family would be high-end versions of their Tab family and the Note family line of tablets, thus the PRO moniker. What’s surprising is that this procudt family already has four members: three for the Galaxy TabPRO (in 8.4, 10.1, and 12.2-inch models), and one Galaxy NotePRO (12.2″ screen).

All four share similar internals, the confirmed ones being:

  • WQXGA LCD display with 2560 x 1600 resolution
  • Unspecified octa-core CPU for Wifi-only models, or unspecified Snapdragon quad-core for LTE models
  • 2GB RAM for the WiFi-only models, or 3GB RAM for the LTE models
  • 16GB or 32GB ROM for the 8.4 and 10.1″ models, 32GB or 64GB for the two 12.2″ models
  • 8MP rear camera
  • Android 4.4 KitKat under TouchWiz with Magazine UX launcher

We’ll need to wait for the full specs to emerge, but from those we currently know, it’s readily apparent that these are absolutely top-of-the-line devices. Aside from the hardware, Samsung didn’t skimp on software.

Here are some hands-on videos by PhoneArena.

True to them being PRO tablets, all four come with a wallop of built-in high quality productivity and content-centric apps, such as the aforementioned Samsung’s new Magazine UX launcher, full version of the Hancom Office Suite, the Remote PC app that allows you to control your PC or Mac and transfer files between your computer and your tablet over a wireless connection, and six months of Cisco WebEx Meetings.

For the Galaxy NotePRO 12.2, it includes a S-Pen, as well as exclusive productivity apps, features, and gestures that come along with it. However, all four would be able to use new accessories for the new line, such as a branded S Action Mouse, a universal Bluetooth keyboard, book cover case and ethernet connector.

While no pricing was made available, Samsung did say that they will be available Q1 this year. With three different screen sizes, Samsung are set to make sure they’ve covered every market. It’s great to be a techie this year indeed!

  1. I was about to get the Ipad Mini the other day when this announcement came out. Now I have to wait for the 8.4 Price and contemplate.

Realistically, the 8.4 should be more expensive than the Mini…Php3K difference is my limit, If it’s within that range, I might settle for the Samsung!

  2. The Tab 8.4 looks the most appealing of the bunch, ang tanong, ipapareho kaya yung presyo sa ipad mini?
