Cherry Mobile Sonic 2.0 will be arriving in local stores within the week. For Php3,999, it’s an entry-level Android smartphone with dual-SIM configuration (with dual standby) and quad-core computing on a 4-inch display.

At its price, the Cherry Mobile Sonic 2.0 will compete with its older brother, the Cherry Mobile Flare 2.0, which was reportedly the cheapest quad-core smartphone available upon its release. Though the former offers a slightly smaller battery capacity than the latter, it does come with a better chipset, double RAM capacity, and better connectivity. We’ll provide a better comparison when we receive a unit for review.

Cherry Mobile Sonic 2.0 with accessories

Cherry Mobile says that the Sonic 2.0’s Wi-Fi comes with dual functionality, meaning it can surf the net while at the same time pair up with a Miracast-compatible device for wireless streaming of photos and videos. The device is also USB On-the-Go ready, allowing it to directly read/retrieve data from other USB devices. Similar to the Starmobile Navi, its integrated GPS is augmented by Glonass for a more accurate location tracking.

Internal storage is only 4GB, with actual available space for users even lesser than that. Thus, the Cherry Mobile Sonic 2.0 will most likely have microSD support, probably up to 32GB.

As per the company’s post on its official Facebook fan page, the Cherry Mobile Sonic 2.0 will be arriving in accredited concept stores and dealers this week. Accessories that come bundled for free with the unit are the USB data cable, a pair of earphones, and a Jelly Case.

For a more capable Cherry Mobile smartphone, you need only spend Php4,499 to get the Flare S.
