Fingerprint scanners are becoming a thing on phones now. The iPhone 5S wasn’t the first phone to feature one, but it was the first one to really take off with the feature, spurring other phone makers like Samsung to incorporate it into their phones. Now it seems that the Huawei Honor 6, AKA Mulan, will also be featuring a fingerprint scanner.

However, it won’t be on the front like the iPhone 5S or Samsung Galaxy S5. Instead, it will be placed on the back, where the index finger has easy access to the phone when it’s held normally.

Fingerprint scanners have usually been reserved for the highest end phones, so it’s nice to see a phone that’s expected to be more moderately priced will be coming with the feature. Of course, that doesn’t mean the Honor 6 is going to be a slouch in the performance departmen.

We’ve previously reported that the Huawei Honor 6 will have the in-house developed Kirin 920 octa-core processor. It will follow a big.LITTLE configuration, combining 4 low power Cortex A7 cores with 4 high performance Cortex A15 cores. Huawei claims that the performance will actually exceed that of the Snapdragon 805!

Huawei Honor 6 Press Event Teaser

The Huawei Honor 6 is expected to be launched tomorrow, July 24 so it shouldn’t be long until we see whether the leaked images are legit or not. Hopefully, they price this right so they can compete well with mainstream flagships, not to mention the eagerly awaited Mi3.
