Do you remember when UMi claimed to have the first true octa-core smartphone? The Chinese electronics company is back again to make another claim, this time for UMi Rome X being the “full metal 3G smartphone.”

It’s cheapest as in most affordable. We’re pretty sure the claim is not meant for having the poorest quality among smartphones. Then again, you take a look at these specs of the UMi Rome X and be the judge:

UMi Rome X Specs

  • Android 5.1 Lollipop
  • 5.5-inch LCD (720×1280 HD), ~267ppi
  • MediaTek 6580 processor
  • 1GB RAM
  • 8GB internal storage
  • microSD support
  • 13-megapixel main camera, with autofocus and dual LED flash
  • 5-megapixel front camera
  • Wi-Fi
  • 3G
  • Bluetooth
  • GPS
  • 7.9mm thickness
  • 2500mAh battery

Take note that those listed pixel counts are made possible via software interpolation. The sensors that power the cameras actually capture fewer pixels of information.

The UMi Rome X is a variant of the UMi Rome, which sports a similar luxurious look and feel without the premium price.

Pre-orders for the UMi Rome X begins on January 11. Official release is on the 25th with a price of $49.99 (approx. Php2,350). Whether or not such price validates UMi’s bold claim, it’s still quite within reach of anyone’s budget.
