Xiaomi is once again set to impress its Philippine customers by launching another remarkable smartphone. The new Xiaomi Redmi 1S will be available on September 4 with an affordable price of only Php5,599.
With the Redmi 1S, Xiaomi Philippines wants you to expect more and achieve more. It’s quite a capable phone thanks to a 1.6GHz quad-core Snapdragon 400 running under the hood, along with 1GB of RAM and Adreno 305 graphics. Everything displayed on the screen is vibrant and clear, what with the 4.7-inch boasting a 720p resolution and in-plane switching (IPS) technology.
To avoid confusion, note that this is the 3G-only Redmi 1S. The one announced a couple of weeks ago is known as the Redmi 1S 4G/LTE, which obviously has faster connectivity and also a MediaTek processor instead of a Snapdragon.

Dual SIM-capable, the Xiaomi Redmi 1S also delivers high-quality shots through its 8-megapixel main camera. It features f/2.2 aperture, 28mm wide angle lens, and support for 1080p video recording. On the other hand, the front camera sports 1.6-megapixel resolution that’s perfect for selfies and 720p video calls.
When it comes to the software department, the Xiaomi Redmi 1S runs on a custom Android 4.3 Jelly Bean OS, known as the MIUI v5. It’s minimalistic in design (with nary a bloatware app in sight) and yet developed with user customizations in mind.
Like the Mi3 flagship smartphone, the Xiaomi Redmi 1S will be officially sold through Lazada.com.ph. It’s currently listed there as “coming soon” (once again, mark September 4 on your calendar) for only Php5,599. Several other accessories have also sprung up in the Xiaomi-Lazada store such as back covers, in-ear headphones, and soft cases.
