Sony Xperia Z1 Press Graphic

With the Xperia Z Ultra Google Play Edition already for sale in the US, it didn’t take too long before someone figured out how to port its ROM to the Xperia Z1.

That someone is a respected developer at XDA, DooMLorD, who was able to get the ROM to work on the Z1. Though they look different in outside appearance, both devices actually come equipped with the same board, which made things easy to transfer the kernel sources.

So far, the unofficial port has almost everything in the Xperia Z1 functional. Some may be discouraged, though, that the camera and Wi-Fi antenna are reportedly broken or don’t work as intended.
