Microsoft have been striving to make the Windows 8.1 (and its mobile version) more accessible to as many consumers as possible, and it seems one of the ways is to make their license more affordable. Perhaps this is the reason why we’re seeing budget-friendly tablets (and other devices) from manufacturers. However, the latest announcement from Acer made people sit up and take notice. They have just recently announced one of the most affordable new tablets based on the platform: the Acer Iconia Tab 8W. Here are the specs that we know so far:

Acer Iconia Tab 8 W Specs

  • 8″ IPS touchscreen display with HD (1280 x 800-pixel) resolution
  • Intel Atom BayTrail Z3735G quad-core processor
  • 1GB RAM, 32GB internal expandable via microSD
  • Windows 8.1 + Bing

Yeah, pretty limited specs info there. It’s sporting dual cameras, though unspecified, as well as dual speakers and good battery life (but unspecified for now). Aside from that, it also comes with one year subscription of MS Office 365 Personal.

Priced at 149.99, or roughly PHP6,531.31, it’s affordable and reasonably priced. My only concern is the paltry RAM. However, at that price, it does pique one’s curiosity. It set to be available in the US this November, while other territories will get it a month earlier this October.
