Solid Group Inc, the company that brought you brands like Destiny Cable and MyPhone, has a new label under its wing. Meet Brown and Proud, a new local tech brand that uses an uncanny business model.
Just like MyPhone, Brown and Proud will be filling their portfolio with tablets and smartphones. But one intriguing factor about this new brand is their multi-level marketing strategy.
Basically, referring other people to purchase their product will earn you incentives and rewards. This, as to how the company exhibits it, will help you grow your own Brown Tree. To learn more, you can download their Brown Movement Kit – https://brown.com.ph/movement.
Thankfully, the other bizarre details on this new company can be found on the actual products.Their products will sport the Agila Brown Lock Screen App, a publishing platform that is said to empower the youth.
Brown and Proud is also said to aim for Internet of Things (IoT), the interconnection of different smart devices via the internet. The company hasn’t announced yet what other devices can interact with theirs, but it is said that they have already partnered with multiple tech brands.
Taking a look at their initial products, Brown and Proud has three devices under their wing. But only one of them is currently available.
The Brown 1, the first Brown and Proud to be out in the market, is a 4.7-inch smartphone. It has an IPS display with an HD resolution, an unnamed chipset with a quad-core processor, and 2GB of RAM. And to make things a little interesting, it boasts a fingerprint scanner, and a 13-megapixel and 8-megapixel cameras in front and back, respectively.
The problem is, it is being sold for Php9,500, which is definitely too much to ask for what it offers.
We have two more devices coming this August. First, the Brown 2, a higher-end model than the previous one. This thing packs a bigger 5.2-inch AMOLED display, but still at a disappointing HD resolution.
Furthermore, it also has an undisclosed SoC that has an octa-core processor with a large 4GB of RAM. There’s also a 16-megapixel and 8-megapixel camera combo, fingerprint scanner, and 4G LTE connectivity. Pricing is yet to be announced, but we can expect it to be above the Php10,000 mark, considering that the Brown 1 is already at Php9,500.
And to complete the line-up, we have the Brown Tab 1. This tablet is equipped with a 7.9-inch “Retina” display, a deca-core processor, 4G LTE and Android Nougat.
As expected, it also sports a fingerprint scanner, Android Nougat, and a 13-megapixel + 5-megapixel cameras. Pricing is also yet to be revealed.
It looks like Brown and Proud still have a lot of things to figure out — just look at those typos in their promo materials.
But if it’s any consolation, the choice of brown color in their products looks pretty interesting. They are undoubtedly unique, and it really speaks to the brand’s theme.
