Amazon has introduced a new family of Echo devices, all engineered for a supercharged version of its digital helper, now called Alexa+. The new products include the Echo Dot Max, Echo Studio, and two smart displays, the Echo Show 8, and Echo Show 11.

These devices are the first to run on Amazon’s own processor chips, called AZ3 and AZ3 Pro. These chips are built to handle complex AI tasks directly on the device. The standard AZ3, found in the Echo Dot Max, significantly boosts its ability to hear you from across the room and understand the “Alexa” command. The more powerful AZ3 Pro chip in the other models enables them to perceive their environment using a combination of their camera, microphones, and even Wi-Fi signals. This could allow Alexa to give you a reminder when a family member arrives home or warn you if a door is left unlocked.

For audio enthusiasts, the new Echo Dot Max is priced at $99.99 (~Php5,800) and promises a much stronger bass response. The Echo Studio, at $219.99 (~Php12,800), features a new, compact spherical design and supports high-end audio formats for a cinematic sound experience. You can link several of these speakers together to create a surround sound system for your television.

The smart displays also get a major upgrade. The Echo Show 8 costs $179.99 (~Php10,500) and the larger Echo Show 11 is $219.99 (~Php12,800). Both have a new look, improved picture quality, a high-resolution camera, and bigger screens. They will manage your connected home through a new interface that consolidates alerts from security cameras and other smart gadgets.

A key improvement with Alexa Plus is its ability to handle more natural, back-and-forth conversations and answer more complicated questions. Soon, an upcoming app store will let you connect other services, such as Lyft for rides or Grubhub for food delivery, directly through your Echo. You will also be able to control your Amazon Music or other subscriptions through the device.

Beyond entertainment and smart home control, Amazon is partnering with health company Oura to provide personalized wellness tips. This integration could see Alexa suggesting you start a workout or wind down for bed based on your sleep data. The devices also simplify reordering groceries from Amazon Fresh and Whole Foods.
