Shopee and Meta are launching tools to let Filipinos buy products directly from Shopee while using Facebook. The collaboration aims to merge social media browsing with online shopping, making it easier for users to purchase items they discover.

The initiative focuses on helping two main groups: content creators and small businesses. It introduces a more straightforward system for affiliate marketing and enhances the shopping experience during Facebook Live streams.

For creators, a new dashboard called Facebook Affiliate Partnerships allows them to link their Facebook and Shopee accounts. Once connected, they can tag Shopee products in their posts and Reels. Followers can click these tags to complete their purchases directly on Shopee’s platform.

Shopee is the first partner for this Meta tool. The company is supporting creators with higher commissions and training through its affiliate program, especially now that it’s shutting down the Facebook Gaming Creator Program.

According to Shopee, its affiliates generated over 100 million pieces of video content in 2024, a threefold increase from 2023.

The Facebook Affiliate Partnerships feature with Shopee is now available in the Philippines, Malaysia, Indonesia, Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam, Brazil, and Taiwan.

For online sellers, the partnership introduces a beta feature for Facebook Live. Brands can now use Collaborative Ads to feature products from their Shopee catalog directly within a livestream. Viewers can click on the items and are guided to Shopee to finish their checkout. In case this is familiar, it’s because it’s identical to how TikTok and TikTok Shop works.

This livestream shopping upgrade is currently being piloted in the Philippines, Indonesia, Thailand, and Vietnam, with plans to expand to other markets later.
