Android users in the Philippines now have a more streamlined way to attend events. Ticketnet, a major local ticketing service, has integrated its digital passes with Google Wallet.

Purchasers will find a new “Add to Google Wallet” prompt when they buy a ticket on their phone. Selecting it saves the pass directly to the wallet app, allowing for quick retrieval and scanning at gates. This development aims to phase out the reliance on printed paper tickets.

Irene Jose, the Chief Operating Officer of Ticketnet’s parent company Uniprom Inc., called the update a significant modernization of the customer experience. The executive said that it simplifies access for their customers, as their phones become the ticket. A quick scan is all you need for a cinema screening, concert, or sports game.

The partnership was established during Google Wallet’s initial launch in the country in November 2023. The service has since expanded, letting users store items like airline boarding passes and use their phones for contactless payments on transit systems like Manila’s MRT-3.
