Meta is quietly testing a paid version of Instagram that offers extra features for regular users.
The trial, which appears to be running in several countries, gives subscribers a set of tools not available on the free version of the app.
People on the plan can view Stories without leaving a trace. They can also see how often their own Stories get rewatched. Another feature lets them sort followers into different groups for sharing posts, instead of being limited to a single close friends list.

Subscribers can also keep a Story online for an extra day and boost one Story per week so it shows up more clearly in other people’s feeds. Other additions include animated reactions and a way to search through the list of people who have viewed a post.
The trial is reportedly happening in Mexico, Japan, and the Philippines based on screenshots shared by users. Prices vary by location, with monthly costs ranging from about $1 to just over $2 depending on the country.
This test is separate from Meta’s existing paid plan for creators, which focuses on verification badges and account security. The new option appears aimed at everyday users looking for more control over their experience.
