Google is expanding its Gemini AI features in the Chrome browser to users across the Asia Pacific region starting today.
The feature, called Gemini in Chrome, works like a personal browsing assistant. You can chat with it to summarize long articles, compare information from different tabs, and more. What makes it useful is how deeply it connects with other Google apps. For example, you can schedule a meeting in Google Calendar, check location details on Maps, draft and send emails through Gmail, or ask questions about YouTube videos. And you can do all of this without leaving the webpage you are currently on.

Google has also added a new capability called Nano Banana 2. This lets you create images on the web using simple text prompts inside the Gemini side panel in Chrome. Another feature, called Personal Intelligence, allows Gemini to remember context from your past conversations. That means the assistant can give you answers that are more tailored to your specific needs as you browse.
The company says security was a priority from the start. The AI models are trained to spot known threats, such as prompt injection attacks. The system also includes safeguards that ask for your confirmation before it completes any sensitive actions. This is designed to keep you in control of your data and browsing experience.
The Gemini in Chrome rollout covers both desktop and iOS users in several markets, including the Philippines, Australia, Indonesia, Japan, Singapore, South Korea, and Vietnam.
