If you want to reach people in the Philippines through video, YouTube is still the best place to be.
The research, conducted by Kantar, looked at viewing habits across the country. It found that YouTube reaches more people than any other streaming service. The numbers are especially impressive in rural areas. In the Visayas and Mindanao regions, 97 out of every 100 Filipino are watching TV shows online through YouTube.
The study also revealed that the platform reaches 60% more viewers than regular TV can on its own. In other words, if you only advertise on TV, you are missing a huge chunk of the audience.
Over the years, YouTube has changed a lot and is no longer just a place for random home videos. People now treat it like a one-stop shop for entertainment. They watch full TV episodes, live sports, news clips, and short viral videos all inside the app.
In fact, YouTube has officially partnered with major players like ABS-CBN, GMA, and TV5. This means viewers can find their favorite shows, news programs, and sports events without leaving the platform.
YouTube offers unskippable ads, which force viewers to watch a short clip before their video starts. This gives advertisers a reliable way to get their message across. And with its dominance, its effectiveness is only expected to grow further.
