Roblox is testing a new feature that lets people build games using artificial intelligence right from their phones.

Users type a description of the game they want to create. The AI then builds a working game based on that text. This includes characters, environments, sound effects, and gameplay mechanics.

The system uses a mix of open-source AI models and Roblox’s own technology. It can even create objects that work properly, like vehicles that drive and shoot.

The company will start testing Build in New Zealand on July 28, 2026. The test is open to users aged 9 and older who have verified their age. Games made during the test will be available to players aged 16 and up, as long as they pass Roblox’s safety checks.

A basic version of Build will be free. Users who want extra features can pay for upgraded options.

People can start a game on their phone using Build and finish it later on a computer using Roblox Studio. This gives creators more flexibility in how they work.

Roblox is also adding more AI tools for experienced game makers. These include:

  • A tool that finds bugs before players notice them
  • A feature that answers questions about game performance
  • A system that suggests changes to make games more engaging

The company is also working on technology that creates full 3D environments from a single text prompt.

Some people worry that easy AI tools will flood the platform with bad games. Roblox says its system only shows games that people actually want to play. Games that nobody plays won’t appear on the homepage, no matter how they were made.

All games still go through the same safety reviews as before. Games for younger players get extra checks before they become available.
