At long last, the HONOR Robot Phone has graduated from prototype status and is now officially a market-ready smartphone.
The highlight of the HONOR Robot Phone, if you haven’t heard already, is its 4DoF Titanium Agile Gimbal, a first on any smartphone. That’s a DJI Osmo Pocket-like gimbal attached at the back of a high-end smartphone.
HONOR achieved this by using over 60 manufacturing processes using 100 precision components. HONOR also passed over 100 patents for this and is considered the smallest 4D gimbal system in the world.
While it uses a very light 2.6g titanium gimbal motor, the device is still relatively heavy at 248g.
That gimbal holds a sharp 200-megapixel 1/1.28-inch sensor with a bright f/1.6 aperture. AI subject tracking and real-time auto-framing for vloggers are also here.
More than photography, the gimbal can be used for other tasks when paired with HONOR’s Yoyo AI assistant. It’s a cool party trick, too, as it can do over 100 facial expressions like peeking, nodding, and dancing to music.
Apart from the one on the gimbal, the Robot Phone has a second 200-megapixel sensor, which is behind a periscope telephoto lens with a 2.7x optical zoom. There’s also a 50-megapixel ultra-wide lens, 50-megapixel selfie camera, and the HONOR H1 imaging chip.
HONOR also teamed with Arri, a prominent brand for cinema cameras, to give it native Log-C3 video encoding and LUT color grading support.
Moving on from the cameras, the Robot Phone boasts a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 processor, a large 7,060mAh battery, and ultra-fast 120W wired and 50W wireless charging.
There’s a compact 6.3-inch LTPO OLED screen with a 1-120Hz refresh rate, and an impressive peak brightness of 6,800 nits.
The HONOR Robot Phone is now listed in China for a price of CNY9,999 (~Php90,600) for the 12GB/512GB, and CNY12,999 (~Php117,800) for the 16GB/1TB. International release details are yet to be announced.
