If you’ve ever dreamed of commanding armies across Westeros and claiming the Iron Throne, your wish is about to come true. PlaySide Studios has unveiled gameplay for Game of Thrones: War for Westeros, a brand-new real-time strategy game officially licensed by the iconic series’ creator, George R.R. Martin.
The game launches on PC in early 2027 — a delay from the original 2026 window that developers confirmed at Gamescom 2026. You can pick from four factions: House Stark, House Lannister, House Targaryen, or the terrifying White Walkers. Each house has its own army, unique buildings, and distinct gameplay style.
In the newly released trailer, players can see legendary characters in action. Jaime Lannister leads a cavalry charge, Daenerys Targaryen calls upon her dragons, and the Night King raises the dead to turn the tide of battle. It’s lore-accurate, visually stunning, and packed with strategic depth.
PlaySide is also planning a beta test later this year so players can try the game before launch. If everything goes smoothly, War for Westeros could be a major hit in the RTS space, especially with fans eagerly watching for any new Game of Thrones content.

For now, early 2027 is the target launch date for Game of Thrones: War for Westeros. More information about the beta and exact dates will come by the end of 2026.
