Samsung just dropped some eye-catching news at Gamescom. The company showed off four new gaming monitors, and one of them has a refresh rate that sounds like a typo.
The 27-inch Samsung Odyssey G6 can hit 1,100Hz. That is the fastest refresh rate ever put on a monitor. To put that in perspective, most regular screens run at 60Hz or 120Hz. Even high-end gaming monitors usually top out around 360Hz. Samsung had shown a 1,040Hz prototype earlier this year, so they actually managed to push it even higher for the final product.
But there is a catch. To get that 1,100Hz speed, you have to run games at 1080p resolution. If you want sharper 1440p visuals, the monitor drops down to 600Hz, but that is still incredibly fast. The screen also has a 1ms response time. Samsung says this model will hit stores in the second half of 2026. No word yet on price.
The other three monitors all use OLED panels and offer multiple refresh rate options.
The Samsung Odyssey OLED G8 is a 32-inch 4K screen. It gives you three different modes to choose from. You can play at 4K with 360Hz, switch to 1440p for 520Hz, or drop to 1080p for 680Hz. It also comes with anti-glare coating and supports both major adaptive sync technologies.
Next up is the Samsung Odyssey OLED G9. This one is huge at 49-inches with a wide DQHD resolution of 5,120 x 1,440 and runs at 360Hz. If you switch to a lower resolution mode, you can push it to 720Hz. The screen hits a peak brightness of 1,300 nits, which is very bright for an OLED display.
Finally, there is the Odyssey OLED G7. This is a 42-inch curved monitor with a standard 16:9 shape. Unlike the others, it keeps things more reasonable with a 165Hz refresh rate and 4K resolution. The curve is rated at 1000R, which means it wraps around your field of vision pretty tightly.
Samsung has not shared pricing for any of these screens yet. Release dates are also still under wraps, though the company said they will roll out throughout 2027 in different regions.
