Eufy, the smart home arm of Anker, has rolled out a doorbell that offers a virtual reality look at your front door. According to the company, it is the first doorbell of its kind to include VR viewing.
The Eufy Video Doorbell S4 packs a camera with a 180-degree view in every direction. Artificial intelligence steps in to hold visitors inside the frame, which is useful to prevent blind spots.
Once someone rings the bell, a call-style alert pops up on your phone. Accept it and the screen fills with a VR image of the panoramic feed. Tilting your phone lets you peek in any direction, and a VR headset will work as well. You can also chat with whoever is at the door through two-way audio while scanning the surroundings.
A 3072 x 3072 sensor and a wide-angle lens sit inside the unit. Eufy’s OmniTrack AI tracks people as they move and trims the picture on its own so they stay in the middle of the shot.
Radar plus two PIR infrared sensors handle motion detection. The radar picks up activity from as far as 8 meters out. The doorbell can spot people, movement in general, packages, and faces. A welcome light also glows warmly when someone walks up.
The doorbell links up with Amazon Alexa, Google Home, and Apple HomeKit. Apple users should note that HomeKit needs the HomeBase S380 gateway, which is sold on its own.
The Eufy Video Doorbell S4 carries a price tag of $299.99 (~Php18,600).
