OPPO and HONOR are set to be the first Android brands to launch wide-screen candybar phones, according to tipster Digital Chat Station. Launch plans are mostly ready. OPPO will go first, HONOR will follow, and other brands will take longer.

OPPO’s model has appeared in leaks. It is said to have a 7.6-inch screen, a Snapdragon 8-series or Dimensity 9-series chip, a 200MP main camera, a periscope telephoto lens, and a 7,000mAh battery.

HONOR is also working on one, but no specs have surfaced yet.

The Huawei Pura X View is the benchmark. It packs a 6.39-inch display with 1.05mm bezels, a 96.1% screen-to-body ratio, 6.68mm thickness, and 201g weight. Its 7,000mAh battery uses silicon-anode tech. It runs on the Kirin 9030S chip with a 200MP XMAGE Red Maple Imaging camera. Prices start at 5,999 yuan.

Demand in China looks strong. Over 180,000 units sold on day one. That gives OPPO and HONOR a hint of buyer interest, though it is too soon to call it a trend.

Nothing is confirmed yet. No specs or launch dates have been announced, so plans may still shift.
