HONOR has officially unveiled the Magic V5, its latest foldable smartphone, delivering notable upgrades in design, durability, and performance. The new model is now the thinnest foldable phone on the market, building on the strengths of its predecessor and beating the OPPO Find N5.

At first glance, the HONOR Magic V5 looks similar to the Magic V3, but HONOR has refined the design with a flatter frame for better handling. When folded, it measures just 8.8mm thin, and when unfolded, it slims down to 4.1mm or 4.2mm, dependent on the unit’s color. The Ivory White variant is the slimmest and lightest at 217 grams, while the Black, Reddish Brown, and Dawn Gold models weigh slightly more at 222 grams.

Durability has also improved. The Magic V3 had an IPX8 water resistance rating, but the V5 steps up further with IP58 and IP59 certifications, meaning it now resists dust in addition to water resistance.

Under the hood, HONOR equipped the Magic V5 with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite. This octa-core processor is paired with up to 16GB of RAM and up to 1TB of storage. Like every other HONOR phone, it runs on MagicOS 9.1, but it’s packed with Deepseek-powered AI features.

The displays retain similar specs to the previous generation but with better protection. The 6.43-inch outer screen is an LTPO OLED panel with a 2376 x 1060 pixel resolution, 120Hz refresh rate, and 5,000 nits peak brightness. Inside, the 7.95-inch foldable display offers a 2352 x 2172 pixel resolution with the same refresh rate, brightness, and 4,320Hz PWM dimming.

HONOR has reinforced both screens. The inner screen features a Super Armored Inner Screen, while the cover panel uses an Anti-scratch NanoCrystal Shield for added durability.

Photography gets a boost with a new triple-camera setup. The HONOR Magic V5 features a 50-megapixel f/1.6 main camera, 50-megapixel f/2.0 ultra-wide sensor (10-megapixel higher), and 64-megapixel f/2.5 telephoto 1/2.0-inch sensor. In front, it comes with two 20-megapixel f/2.2 selfie cameras.

One of the most significant upgrades is the battery. The Magic V5 now packs a massive 6,100mAh silicon-carbon battery in China and a 5,820mAh version for international markets. That’s around a 12% increase over the V3’s 5,150mAh capacity. Despite the larger battery, charging speeds remain the same: 66W wired and 50W wireless.
