A new member of the HONOR X series is out, and it has one of the biggest batteries you can find in a modern, sleek smartphone. Meet the HONOR X70.
The HONOR X70 boasts an 8,300mAh battery. Despite its ultra-large capacity, it has a thickness of just 7.8mm to 8.0mm (depending on the variant). That’s about the same size as your average phone with a 5,000-6,000mAh capacity, all thanks to silicon-carbon technology.
Charging speeds are quite bizarre. All models will receive an 80W wired charger, which should be sufficient for charging the battery.
It also has an impressive 80W wireless charging support, but only if you get the top-tier 512GB model. They ship with Android 15-based MagicOS 9.0 interface.
But then again, being in the X series, the rest of the specs are fitting for the budget market. For starters, it has a Qualcomm Snapdragon 6 Gen 4 processor, which is still decent for the price. You can pair it with up to 12GB of RAM and the said 512GB of storage.
We do have a pretty impressive display. There’s a 6.79-inch 1.2K AMOLED screen with a high 120Hz refresh rate and an extra bright 6,000-nits of peak brightness.
The camera island on the back is reminiscent of the HONOR phones we’ve seen in the past. It holds a sharp 50-megapixel main camera with optical image stabilization, albeit no telephoto or ultra-wide. An 8-megapixel selfie camera is on the front.
Durability features are also pretty extensive. It passed IP66, IP68, and IP69 certifications for dust and water protection. HONOR also claims it can survive up to 85 ℃ of water temperatures, 4 hours of continuous salt spray, and a water depth of up to 6 meters.
The HONOR X70 is now for pre-order in China and will be available on July 18. The 8GB/128GB retails for CNY1,399 (~Php11,100), 8GB/256GB for CNY1,599 (~Php12,700), 12GB/256GB for CNY1,799 (~Php14,300), and 12GB/512GB for CNY1,999 (~Php15,900). No word yet if it will be available in the Philippines.
