TECNO has unveiled a new tri-foldable smartphone concept. The new TECNO Phantom Ultimate G Fold has a new layout that aims to protect the screen when folded.
The TECNO Phantom Ultimate G Fold has a small hinge on the right third of the display so it folds traditionally. A larger hinge is on the other side so the left-most display can fold over the third one and has a self-locking mechanism so it stays closed.
This means that the whole foldable display is protected when the device is folded. It then relies on a separate cover screen so you can still use the device when folded.
It also made the device impressively thin when folded at just 11.49mm, beating the HUAWEI Mate XT Ultimate (12.8mm). Unfolded, the TECNO tri-fold is only 3.49mm thick.
Despite its thinness, the Phantom Ultimate G Fold managed to have “over 5,000mAh” battery. It also uses sturdy 2,000MPa Titan Fiber plate on the back.
The rest of the specs and features are yet to be announced. We shall see the rest of it at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) in March next year.
