Get ready for a new look and feel on your vivo phone. The company has officially announced that it will release its OriginOS software to users around the world on October 15, 2025, during a live event from Shanghai.

This launch ends the software divide between vivo’s Chinese and international markets. For years, phones sold outside of China, such as in the Philippines, have operated on the FuntouchOS platform. The global version of OriginOS will now replace this system, which has been in use since 2013.

Company executives are promoting the new OS as a significant upgrade. They highlight its responsive performance, thoughtful AI-driven functions, and the ability for users to personalize their devices like never before.

In a preview video shared by vivo Philippines on September 25, Senior Vice President Shi Yujian explained the goal behind the change. “Our aim with OriginOS is to provide a mobile experience that feels more fluid and intelligent for everyone,” Yujian said.

The head of vivo’s Philippine operations, Zeng Kai, also shared his enthusiasm for the update. “Filipino fans have been waiting for this, and we are excited to deliver it,” Kai mentioned. “We believe the improvements in performance and design will make a noticeable difference in daily phone use.”

The first smartphones to come with the global software pre-installed will be the vivo X300 Series. These devices, also launching globally in October, will feature OriginOS 6 built on Google’s Android 16 platform.
