Xiaomi has officially introduced the HyperOS 3.0 update that’s based on the latest Android 16.
The new Xiaomi HyperOS 3.0 brings a couple of visual refinements, the new Xiaomi Super Island, performance improvements, and more. Let’s talk about the highlights one by one.
Liquid Glass UI, New icons
An improvement clearly inspired by Apple, HyperOS 3.0’s interface will predominantly feature liquid glass effects.
That includes translucent panels, transparent backgrounds with a smooth blur, and more.
Xiaomi has also redesigned the system icons with rounder shapes and more vibrant colors.
Xiaomi Super Island
You guessed it. Xiaomi Super Island is a copy of Apple’s Dynamic Island.
But, Xiaomi is setting itself apart by making it more useful. It can show up to three notifications as an interactive island at a time so you can juggle them faster and easier.
Islands can also be displayed constantly. Say, you can check a flight information or delivery status while uninterruptedly scrolling on social media or chatting with friends.
Customizable lockscreen
HyperOS 3.0 is bringing additional lockscreen customization options. A feature also identical from other interfaces we’ve already seen.
It lets you choose between clock styles, wallpapers, and dynamic backgrounds you can create using AI.
Better Window Management
HyperOS 3.0 has made window management more flexible for tablet users. Allowing for a more seamless and PC-like multitasking experience.
Mac and iPad casting
HyperOS 3.0 users will be able to cast their smartphone screen to a Mac or iPad, complete with mouse control. This is enabled by the Xiaomi Internet Service app available for both macOS and iPad OS.
That same app also works for PCs running on Windows 11. Apart from casting, you would be able to easily share files between devices.
What’s more, the new HyperOS 3.0 will feature an updated control center, better search for the Gallery app, and is expected to provide 30% better performance than its predecessor.
The HyperOS 3.0 beta will be available on select devices in China this September. International release details are yet to be known.
