Adobe has announced it will release a version of its professional video editing software, Premiere Mobile, for the iPhone. The free app is scheduled to arrive later this month.

This new application is designed to provide high-end editing tools in a mobile format. It represents a significant step up from Adobe’s current mobile offering, the simpler Premiere Rush. Company officials state the new app will deliver an experience much closer to the full desktop Premiere Pro program.

The iPhone Adobe Premiere mobile app will include a multi-track timeline, a feature central to professional editing. Users can work with an unlimited number of audio, video, and text layers. It also supports 4K HDR video quality and can generate captions automatically.

Understanding the needs of modern content creators, Adobe is building in single-tap export options for social platforms like Instagram, YouTube Shorts, TikTok and Facebook. The app will automatically resize videos to fit each platform’s specific dimensions.

Adobe is also integrating its artificial intelligence tools. Users will have access to AI-generated sound effects and a feature that enhances spoken audio. The app will include various AI assets created by Adobe Firefly. For those who prefer a more traditional approach, a library of free fonts, music, sound effects, and stock clips will also be available.

While downloading and using the core Adobe Premiere mobile app is free, Adobe will charge for premium add-ons. These will include expanded cloud storage and additional credits for using the generative AI features.
