HUAWEI has announced the FreeClip 2, the next generation of its open-ear, clip-on wireless earbuds. The new model builds on the original with several upgrades, including a more powerful AI system, dual drivers for better audio, and a lighter design.
The new HUAWEI FreeClip 2 comes with HarmonyOS AI, powered by a third-generation AI chip. This “AI Ear Assistant” enables functions like real-time translation, voice commands for device control, and audio-based navigation prompts. The earbuds also support spatial audio for a more immersive listening experience.
For sound quality, HUAWEI equipped the FreeClip 2 with dual 10.8mm dynamic drivers. They connect via Bluetooth 6 and support SBC, AAC, and L2HC audio codecs. A three-microphone system is included to help reduce background noise during phone calls.

Weighing just 5.1 grams per earbud, the FreeClip 2 is lighter than its predecessor. They have an IP57 rating for water and dust resistance, meaning they can survive being submerged in shallow water. The charging case has a slightly lower IP54 rating, protecting it from splashes.
The battery life is rated for up to 9 hours of music playback on a single charge. With the charging case, that total extends to a total of 38 hours. A quick charge feature provides 3 hours of use after just 30 minutes of charging. Additional smart features include drop detection within a 50-meter range and anti-loss alerts to help you locate the earbuds.
HUAWEI will offer the FreeClip 2 in three colors: Blue, Sand White, and Black. The price is set at CNY1,299(~Php10,400) in China.
