Sony is changing its game plan this year. Rather than rolling out a completely new high-end headphone, they are dusting off an old design and giving it a second chance.
The Sony WH-1000XM4C is basically a re-release of the popular WH-1000XM4 from a few years ago. It looks the same and still packs the noise-cancelling tech and multi-device pairing that fans loved. But Sony has added a few fresh touches, like updated sound settings, a special mode for gaming, and a shortcut button for streaming apps.
The catch is battery life. It now lasts around 27 hours with noise-cancelling on, which is a bit less than before.
Sony is also updating its mid-range offering. The Sony WH-CH730N replaces the older CH720N and comes with a new foldable design and softer ear cups. The noise-cancelling has been fine-tuned to block out more background rumble, and call quality gets a boost from AI help.
Vocals sound clearer, and there is a gaming EQ for players. A neat feature lets you switch to a mode that makes audio feel like it’s coming from room speakers instead of the headphones.
Battery is a huge upgrade, reaching 50 hours with noise-cancelling on. There is also a volume limiter and a weekly listening report to protect your ears.
Lastly, Sony has a new budget model. The Sony WH-CH530 takes over from the CH520, skipping noise-cancelling but offering better sound, the same EQ tools, and a gaming mode. Battery life stretches to 55 hours, and call quality is improved with AI processing. The hearing safety features from the pricier model are included too.
The WH-1000XM4C will cost $300 (~Php18,700) when it arrives later this year. The WH-CH730N is priced at $180 (~Php11,000), available in white, pink, tan, black, and blue. The budget-friendly WH-CH530 also launched for $70(~Php4,300), coming in purple, white, black, green, coral, and pink.
