Apple announced a significant update to its Vision Pro headset, equipping the device with a more powerful M5 chip and introducing a new strap designed for improved comfort. The upgraded models will be available starting October 22.

The new M5 chip represents the core of this refresh. Apple states the processor delivers faster overall performance and renders images with greater detail. Specifically, it can display 10 percent more pixels on the headset’s OLED displays and support refresh rates of up to 120Hz, an increase from the previous maximum of 100Hz.

Apple also claims that artificial intelligence features, such as creating a “Persona” or viewing spatial photos, are now up to 50 percent faster. Battery life sees a modest improvement, extending general use to about two and a half hours.

Alongside the internal upgrade, Apple is launching a new “Dual Knit Band.” This strap is intended to provide a more customizable and comfortable fit for users. It will be offered in three sizes and includes an adjustment dial on the side. The band will be sold separately for $99 and is also compatible with the original Vision Pro model that contained the M2 chip.
