Years after the first MicroPC, GPD finally has a successor with the new GPD MicroPC 2.
While the overall look is the same, the new GPD MicroPC 2 has received major upgrades over its predecessor. For starters, it now has an Intel N250 CPU with a higher 1.3GHz (from 1.1GHz) base and 3.8GHz (from 2.6GHz) max clock speeds. It still has 4 cores, 4 threads, and a 15W TDP.
It also has beefier Intel UHD graphics with 32 Execution units with speeds of up to 1.25GHz. That’s an improvement over the first MicroPC’s Intel UHD 600 graphics with 12 EU256 at 700MHz.
The RAM capacity is faster and has been doubled at 16GB LPDDR5-4800, as well as the storage, which is now a 512GB M.2 2280 PCIe 4.0 NVMe module.
GPD kept the clamshell form factor, albeit now wide with its bigger 7-inch 10-point touchscreen. It is attached to a rotating reverse hinge with a maximum angle of 180 degrees and supports tablet mode.
The bottom part has a full QWERTY keyboard that can be easily typed on using your two thumbs. On top of it is a small touchpad.
We then have WiFi 6 and Bluetooth 5.0 for wireless connectivity. Port selection includes two USB-C 3.2 Gen 2 ports with 10Gbps data speeds and support for DisplayPort 1.4 and Power Delivery.
Finally, the battery has been increased to 27.5Wh (from 23.66Wh) while the USB-C charging is now faster at 45W (from 24W).
The GPD MicroPC 2 is now listed on Indiegogo with a starting price of USD495 (~Php28,100). Backers will receive their units in September.
