If you want to watch movies in sharp 4K quality on Amazon Prime Video, be ready to pay more starting next month.
Amazon is changing how its streaming service works. On April 10, the company is launching a new plan called Prime Video Ultra.
Right now, anyone with a Prime membership can watch some shows and movies in 4K Ultra HD quality. But that is going away soon. Starting in April, the regular Prime Video plan with ads will only stream in 1080p. If you want 4K, you have to pay for the new Ultra plan.

This is frustrating for people who already pay for Prime. A Prime membership in the Philippines costs Php149 per month or Php1,390 per year. For you to watch anything in 4k resolution, now you will have to pay extra on top of your membership to get it back.
The Amazon Prime Video Ultra plan does come with a few extras besides 4K resolution. You can download up to 100 movies to watch offline, compared to 25 before. You can also stream on five devices at once instead of three. The plan adds Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos for better picture and sound as well.
Amazon is not alone in raising prices. Other services like Netflix, Disney Plus, and Apple TV Plus have all gone up recently. For Amazon, this change could bring in a lot of money. Analysts say it might add nearly $800 million in new revenue each year, if their subscriber base is willing to pay more.
