NetEase Games has officially launched its new free-to-play mobile game, Destiny: Rising, for iOS and Android devices worldwide. The game is a science fiction RPG shooter set in an alternate timeline of the popular Destiny universe.

Developed and published by NetEase under a license from Bungie, the creator of Destiny, the game is set after the events of the Destiny universe’s Dark Age. It offers players a new story to explore. Before its global launch, the game proved highly popular, with more than 10 million people pre-registering to play.

The game centers on a new adventure where players, aided by legendary Iron Lords, must investigate the Red Sea Rift. Their mission is to uncover a sinister plan by the Cabal and break a mysterious curse on the planet Veridia.

Destiny: Rising includes a variety of ways to play. It features single-player story missions, cooperative modes for teaming up with others, and competitive player-versus-player modes. Players can choose from a roster of both classic Destiny characters and new ones, each with their own unique stories and abilities. The game also includes a wide range of activities, from campaign missions to six-player cooperative strikes.

For social players, the game encourages forming clans, customizing shared social spaces, and grouping up with friends for both cooperative and competitive battles. On supported newer devices, the game will run at a smooth 90 frames per second.

There is also a special connection to Destiny 2. Players who complete the “Bear the Light” event in Destiny: Rising can earn an exclusive emblem for use in Destiny 2.

Destiny: Rising is available now as a free download on the Apple App Store and Google Play Store.
