Netflix has launched a free mobile app called Playground for children eight years old and younger. The app works on smartphones and tablets, and it is available to all Netflix members no matter which plan they pay for.

The big selling point is that kids can use Netflix’s Playground without an internet connection. Netflix says this makes it great for long trips like flights or grocery shopping with parents.

Playground starts with a small collection of games, but the company says it will keep adding more over time. Some of the first games include a Peppa Pig title, a Sesame Street game where children can play memory and connect-the-dots challenges, and a couple of games based on Dr. Seuss books. There is also a racing game from the show Bad Dinosaurs, plus sticker books and jigsaw puzzles.

Playground is already out in the United States and many other countries. It will be available worldwide on April 28.

Netflix still offers other video games inside its main app, but the company has had trouble with its gaming division. It closed a major game studio in 2024 and has taken many games off the platform since then.
