The iconic Rubik’s Cube, a symbol of logical thinking for over five decades, is entering the digital age. A newly licensed product, the Rubik’s WOWCube, reimagines the puzzle by replacing its famous-colored stickers with two dozen small screens.
The new Rubik’s WOWCube alters the classic cube’s structure. Instead of the familiar three-by-three grid on each face, the WOWCube features a two-by-two grid per side, resulting in 24 individual display squares. Each of these squares is a full-color, high-resolution screen, transforming the static puzzle into a dynamic digital platform.
It’s constructed from 8 independent modules, each containing 3 screens and its own processing chip. Advanced magnetic connectors snap these modules together, ensuring they maintain electrical contact and can share data seamlessly as the user rotates the cube in any direction.

While it can mimic the original by displaying solid colors for a traditional solve, the WOWCube’s primary function is to play games. Users can twist the segments to interact with a library of digital games directly on the device, from arcade shooters to puzzle adventures. The built-in app store currently offers nearly 50 titles, with a mix of free and paid options.
Rubik’s WOWCube is also loaded with additional hardware, including motion sensors and multiple speakers. Its internal battery is advertised to provide up to 7 hours of play time. Adding new content requires a smartphone though, so users must download a companion app and connect via Bluetooth to transfer games to the cube.
This is not the first electronic Rubik’s Cube. Previous attempts, like the 2020 Rubik’s Connected, and the 2007 Rubik’s Revolution offered light-up games but could not be twisted. The WOWCube, initially launched without the official branding in 2022, only recently gained the Rubik’s name through a partnership with the brand owner, Spin Master. It’s priced at $299 in the US, but no mention of global pricing and release date yet.
