Riot Games has officially unveiled the next character coming to its popular tactical shooter, Valorant. The new agent, named Veto, was announced during the Paris stop of the Valorant 2025 Championship tour.
Described by developers as a character “empowered by an unstoppable DNA mutation,” Veto specializes in disrupting enemy plans and neutralizing their abilities. His arrival follows the recent addition of a custom Skirmish game mode, marking the next major update for the game.
The developer also revealed all four of Veto’s unique abilities, which focus on control and denial.
His first ability, called Chokehold, lets him throw a fragment of his mutation. When it hits a surface, it becomes a trap that holds enemies in place. While trapped, opponents are both Deafened and suffer from the Decayed effect, which gradually reduces their health. Enemies have a chance to destroy the trap before it activates.
His second tool is named Crosscut. This ability allows Veto to place a vortex on the ground. If he is within range and looking at it, he can reactivate the ability to instantly teleport to the vortex’s location. During the buy phase at the start of a round, he can pick the vortex back up to use it again elsewhere.
Veto’s signature ability is the Interceptor. He can place this device at a target location. Once placed, he can activate it. When active, the Interceptor will automatically destroy any enemy utility that would normally bounce off a player or that could be destroyed by gunfire. This device can also be destroyed by enemies.
His ultimate ability, called Evolution, triggers a full mutation. When activated, Veto instantly gains a combat stim, health regeneration, and becomes completely immune to all enemy debuffs.
