To ensure learning continues regardless of internet access, the Department of Education is launching a major new television initiative. Partnering with the Knowledge Channel Foundation and Solar Learning, DepEd will broadcast full lessons directly to homes and classrooms starting next school year.
The service, an expansion of the DepEd TV project, will use a combination of cable, satellite, and digital terrestrial TV signals. This multi-platform approach is specifically designed for communities with poor or no connectivity, providing a reliable alternative to online-only resources.
A key feature is the focus on offline access. Schools in remote or disaster-hit areas will receive portable media libraries and preloaded TVs containing the video lessons. This allows educators to use the material anytime, without depending on a live signal or the internet.
Programming for the upcoming School Year 2025-2026 is organized into a structured weekly schedule. The broadcasts will cover core subjects from early childhood education through Grade 10, transforming TV into a scheduled classroom tool rather than just occasional educational content.
The soft launch will begin in Metro Manila and several Luzon provinces. This initial phase will test the technical delivery, evaluating signal reach and broadcast consistency before a full national rollout.
Officials state that this broadcast strategy aims to complement, not replace, existing online learning tools. By building a hybrid system, the agency hopes to create a more inclusive and resilient educational framework for all public-school students.
