Since we wrote about it last month, we’ve gathered a few more info about the Cherry Mobile Flare S2. Read on to learn what this new quad-core smartphone has to offer.

Described as “sexier the 2nd time around,” the Cherry Mobile Flare S2 is the follow-up to last year’s Flare S. Perhaps the most notable upgrade is the Sony IMX 179 sensor for the rear camera. It’s the same sensor used by the Google Nexus 5. The curves are also more noticeable this time, which we’re hoping will improve comfort when holding the phone. Screen has also been upped to 4.5 inches, and the front camera now sports 2-megapixel resolution instead of VGA.

  1. Magiging availble pa ba ulit eto? hinanap ko sa lazada, out of stock na. Gusto ko talaga to bilhin.

  2. FS2,
    Pros:
-camera(superb low light and daylight performance),
    -17756 on antutu(just a shy away from SGS3),
    -Impressive screen
    Cons:
-Screen not really OGS(there’s a very small gap bet. LCD and glass panel)
    -Only sim1 has 3g
-Very buggy OS(does not remember app association, default write disk keeps reverting back to phone storage etc.)
    – Not really sure if Sony imx 179 is used, nevertheless great camera.

  3. I’ve used both rio and s2 and to tell you all, I would go for s2 since it’s much more faster and smoother in all test I’ve done. It also sports a good cam and the built quality is superb. Rio look cheap and plasticky and by the way screen resolution is not that big difference

  4. 4.5incher, VWVGA, quadcore processor, this thing will gonna be fast.. i wonder how will it score on antutu

    1. will it use real ips screen? by the way on rio’s screen, the display is a bit underwhelming for an ips panel. doesn’t looked like a real ips. i noticed some contrast lost when i tilt the phone on its side.

  5. This phone has no lag issue..display screen is compatible with mediatek MT6582M will run smooth on qHD display or below qHD screen resolution

cons: battery only 1800 mah and only 4.5 inch compare to Rio 5 inch

    1. The Rio offers a better screen for a price that’s only Php300 more. Its other specs vs the Flare S2 are essentially the same.

    2. dont buy this i am using this now and it has defect. go launcher and other theme launcher wont work on this phone

      1. It is not a defect. All you need to do is update the software. Use the system software update it will upgrade to android kitkat. After that you could use any launcher and can make it as your default
