Qualcomm’s successor to the Snapdragon 7s Gen 3 is now official. Check out the new Qualcomm Snapdragon 7s Gen 4, which will be found on upcoming midrange phones.

The Qualcomm Snapdragon 7s Gen 4 has the same Kryo CPU architecture as its predecessor. Only now, Qualcomm said you can expect 7% better CPU performance thanks to the higher-clocked Prime Cortex-A720 core at 2.7GHz (from 2.5GHz).

Clock speeds for the other cores are the same. The 3x Cortex-A720 cores are still at 2.4GHz, while the 4x Cortex-A520 is still at 1.8GHz.

We also have an upgraded Adreno GPU, which is also 7% faster than last time. It should provide a much better gaming experience since the chipset also brings Qualcomm Snapdragon Elite Gaming features like the Snapdragon Game Super Resolution and Adaptive Performance Engine 3.0.

It also supports ultra-wide displays with up to 2900 x 1300 pixel resolution and 144Hz refresh rate.

For photography, we have a new Spectra ISP that can accommodate 200-megapixel sensors and shoot 4K@30fps videos with HLG, HDR10, and HDR10+ support.

It then supports LPDDR5 RAM at 3,200MHz speeds, UFS 3.1 storage, and Qualcomm Quick Charge 4+. Connectivity features include WiFi 6E, sub-6GHz 5G, and Bluetooth 5.4

For AI performance, the new Hexagon NPU has support for Llama 1B, Qwen 1B, and real-time translation.

The first phones with the new Qualcomm Snapdragon 7s Gen 4 chip are yet to be announced.
