Home Credit Philippines organized its first hackathon to help young people learn about new technology. The event focused on artificial intelligence and financial apps.

More than 400 students and recent graduates joined the competition. They came from over 60 schools in different parts of the country. The goal was to create new ideas that could help solve real problems in the financial industry.

Before the finals, the participants got training from Home Credit workers and coaches from KadaKareer. They learned how to build their ideas and present them well.

The final round happened on December 11 at the Home Credit office in Bonifacio Global City. Ten teams showed their work to company leaders. The three best teams won and got internships at Home Credit.

Top bosses from the company came to support the event. They included David Minol, who is the President and CEO, and Teeraphong Mahatham, the Deputy CEO.

Teeraphong Mahatham talked about why events like this matter. He said new technology is important but people matter more. He believes young people can come up with great ideas when given the chance.

Sean Kalzada from KadaKareer said many students have good skills but no place to use them. He said this event gave them a way to show what they can do.

Home Credit has been in the Philippines for 12 years. It has helped over 12 million people with loans worth more than Php400 billion. The company follows rules set by the Securities and Exchange Commission and the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas.
