Apple has added three products to its obsolete list, including the controversial 12-inch MacBook from 2017.

The newly obsolete items are the MacBook (Retina, 12-inch, 2017), the iPad (6th generation) in Wi-Fi and Wi-Fi + Cellular versions, and BeatsX headphones in colors like Burned Red, Defiant Black-Red, Deep Black, Pure White, and Sky Blue.

Apple labels a product vintage once it has been off sale for five years or more. Vintage items can still be repaired, but parts may be limited.

After seven years off sale, a product becomes obsolete. Apple then stops all repairs and service.

The 2017 MacBook was the last model in the line before Apple discontinued it. The 2015 and 2016 versions were already obsolete.

Apple marketed the 12-inch MacBook as a follow-up to the MacBook Air. It never caught on widely, though it had a small group of devoted fans.
