Apple has stopped selling the Mac Pro, and there won’t be a new one.

The company removed the desktop computer from its online store this week. Anyone looking for the Mac Pro on Apple’s website now gets redirected to a general Mac page. A spokesperson confirmed to 9to5mac that no future versions of the machine are in development.

The version being discontinued first came out in 2019. It got one major update in 2023 when Apple added its own M2 chip. Since then, the computer stayed on shelves with a starting price of $6,999, even as newer, faster chips appeared in other models.

With the Mac Pro gone, Apple is putting its energy into the Mac Studio instead. That smaller desktop can now be equipped with the latest M3 Ultra chip, along with plenty of memory and storage for demanding work.

Apple’s current desktop lineup now includes just three machines: the iMac, the Mac mini, and the Mac Studio. On the laptop side, the company sells the MacBook Neo, MacBook Air, and MacBook Pro.

A software update last year also made it easier to link multiple Mac computers together for extra power. That feature gave professional users another way to get high performance without needing a single massive tower like the Mac Pro.

The decision to end the line is a clear change to Apple’s approach on its pro-level desktops. While some longtime users may be disappointed, the Cupertino company has chosen to simplify its lineup and focus on the Mac Studio as its high-end option going forward.
