More reports surrounding the rumored budget MacBook have come out.
An analyst previously said that Apple is preparing an affordable MacBook that uses an Apple A18 Pro chip found on the latest iPhone 16 Pro models. We can also expect the low-cost MacBook to lack Thunderbolt ports and may rely on standard USB-C.
Now, new reports suggest that the upcoming laptop will be priced between USD599 — the same starting price of the iPhone 16e in the United States — and USD699. For comparison, the iPhone 16e starts at Php39,990 in the Philippines.
The latest report also claims that the device will have a compact 12.9-inch screen, making it even smaller than the MacBook Air’s 13.6-inch display.
It is expected to enter mass production in late Q3 2025 and may hit the market in late 2025 or early 2026.
Market projections show that Apple could ship 5 to 7 million units of its low-cost MacBook and could boost its total MacBook volume by 30% to 40%.
