The Insta360 X5 is finally official with major improvements in image quality, durability, battery, and, of course, now with AI features.

For the new Insta360 X5, you’re getting two 1/1.28-inch sensors. That’s 144% bigger than its predecessor, allowing for improved sharpness as it absorbs light better.

The sensor is paired with a Triple AI Chip system consisting of two Pro Imaging chips and a dedicated 5nm AI chip. All these provide a staggering 140% performance boost over its predecessor.

That AI chip handles the X5’s PureVideo feature, an AI-powered noise reduction and dynamic range optimization for better low-light shooting.

For video recording, the X5 shoots up to 8K at 30fps and 5.7K at 60fps. PureVideo, which offers Active HDR, works up to 8K at 30fps but only 30fps at 5.7K. For slow-motion shots, the X5 now shoots 120fps at 4K resolution.

Insta360 also made the battery bigger to 2,400mAh, lasting up to 187 minutes. That’s 37% longer than the X4. It also has 30W USB-C fast charging support that can fill it back to 100% in just 35 minutes.

As for durability, the Insta360 X5 is now IP68 dust and water resistant. It can survive water submersion of up to 49 feet even without the diving case. They also installed a new steel mesh Wind Guard paired with a better algorithm to reduce wind noise.

For better audio capture, you can get it with a small wireless microphone that you can easily clip to your clothes. It also doubles as a remote control to start recording.

Apart from the microphone, Insta360 is also selling a lens replacement for USD30 (~Php1,700) in case you still manage to break the improved scratch-resistant glass. For safety, it’s best to get the lens guards from the beginning.

One cool feature we found is the InstaFrame mode, which records in both landscape and portrait so you can quickly post videos on Stories. Full 360-degree recording, Invisible Selfie Stick Effect, and more are still here.
