Interested in learning artificial intelligence is sweeping the Philippines, with new data showing a dramatic rise in the number of people taking related online classes.
Every 9 minutes, a Filipino enrolls in an AI-related online course
According to Ashutosh Gupta, Coursera‘s top executive for Asia Pacific, enrollment in generative AI courses from the Philippines is in an upward trend. The current sign-up rate is now 1 Filipino student every 9 minutes, a notable jump from the 1 enrollment every 15 minutes recorded last year.
Coursera also revealed that learners in the Philippines have collectively dedicated about 80,000 hours to studying generative AI subjects on the platform. As of writing, the Philippines has 2.9 million registered users on Coursera, the highest in Southeast Asia.

Gupta stressed that acquiring these new abilities is critical for the local workforce. He stated that adapting to the spread of AI technology is a global necessity, and the Philippines is fully part of that trend.
In a move to support this educational demand, Coursera has rolled out a new subscription model in the country. For a monthly fee of $24, users can now take any of the platform’s more than 10,000 courses. Alternative options include a yearly plan priced at $160 or purchasing individual classes for $31.
