Insta360 has released a new 360-degree camera, the X4 Air, designed to be a more portable option that sits between its flagship X4 and X5 models.
The Insta360 X4 Air tips the scales at just 165 grams, making it the lightest 8K 360 camera Insta360 has ever produced. This makes it lighter than both the X4, which is 203 grams, and the flagship X5 at 200 grams.
To achieve this weight reduction, the camera uses a smaller battery. It can record 8K video at 30 frames per second for about 88 minutes, which is shorter than the X5’s 100-minute battery runtime.
However, Insta360 says it did not compromise on image quality. The X4 Air features 1/1.8-inch sensors. The company claims this hardware provides a 134 percent boost in the pixel area for each frame when compared to the X4, which should result in sharper, more detailed videos.
The camera’s lenses are also a key feature. They are designed to be swapped out by the user in a matter of seconds and are coated to be twice as resistant to damage from drops as the previous model. It is also waterproof down to a depth of 49 feet.
The new Insta360 X4 Air is compatible with many of the accessories made for the X5. It also includes several of the flagship’s intelligent features, such as a built-in wind guard, gesture controls, and the Invisible Selfie Stick tool that lets users capture shots that look like they were taken from a drone.
Insta360 X4 Air comes in both black and white color options. The base package, called the Standard bundle, is priced at Php21,990 in the Philippines. A Starter bundle is also available for Php24,990. This includes a 114-centimeter invisible selfie stick, a lens cap, and an additional battery. All buyers will receive a complimentary one-year subscription to the Insta360+ cloud service, which provides 200GB of online storage.
