Ken Pillonel, an engineer who became viral for modding an iPhone X to have USB-C, is back and taking things up a notch.
Pillonel’s latest project aims to fight planned obsolescence by adding one new modern feature to a few dated iPhones so they have fewer reasons to upgrade.
In relation to its old USB-C iPhone X project, Pillonel said that “this time, I’m turning that one-off DIY mod into a real product you can own.”
“This isn’t just a hack anymore; it’s the biggest project I’ve ever done,” he added.
Pillonel has created a special case that swaps the Lightning port to USB-C in older iPhones. Unlike his initial project, USB-C fast charging is fully supported.

What’s more, the case also supports MagSafe charging, data transfers to PCs, and even CarPlay. Those are the guaranteed features that work; for others, you might have to remove the case.
The case also has an extra SIM card slot for travelers and a lanyard attachment. You can get the case through the obsoless.com website with prices ranging from USD45 (~Php2,600) to USD55 (~Php3,200).
